Controlling Azureus Traffic With IpTables

It is possible to control network traffic from the Azureus peer-to-peer (P2P) software using a Linux firewall such as IPCop, IpTables and the Rope packet matching module. "Control" in this context means applying firewall policies such as QoS, bandwidth limits, blocking etc.

Azureus is a java bittorrent client, It provides a bittorrent protocol implementation using java language.

Azureus offers multiple torrent downloads, queuing/priority systems (on torrents and files), start/stop seeding options and instant access to numerous pieces of information about your torrents.

Controlling Bittorrent.

Since Azureus uses the Bittorrent protocol, it can be controlled using the generic Bittorrent identification logic provided by the ROPE software. This mechanism is described in detail in BlockingBittorrent.
